The oration was delivered by J B Goff and was brilliant and masterly effort. The Dec, of Independence was well read by Lewis A. Miller, with becoming dignity and lecorura. The recitation of Frankie Ward deserves especial credit. The horse, foot, sack and potato races were II exciting and interesting features of the day. There was a fcrilliant desplay of fireworks in the evening, which kept the crowd nicely entertained until the grand ball began, which lasted until day light. The committee of ladies, consist- imr of Mesdamas Miller, Williams, Ho gan, Roliinett, Ward and Col well deserve great credit for the very able and em cient manner in which the celebration was arranged and managed. Olex Explosions. Bids will be rec'd at Ioue lor a new mail route from lone to Eieht Mile, Bids rec'd ontil July 10th. Nearly all the residents from and around Olex attended the 4th at Ar lington and report a way-np time. The wind still keeps blowing cold from the west, which is very favorable for the growing wheat, . which now promises to equal any crop ever grown in iiiliaui. There is a fine orchard 15 years old on the place, also a good house, two large frame barns, one blacksmith shop, one reaper, mower, rake, sulkey-plow, and everything imag inable that is needed on a well-regulated farm. One prong of Rock creek runs through the place; only 3 miles to the finest timber in the country. Will take part payment in sheep at market price, balance on easy terms.
