A heavy expense bill is being piled up against Spain in this matter, and unless she pro vides the cash to meet it, there is likely to be serious and variegated trouble for her. Now that the election is over, the hundreds of millions of dollars that have been lying idle in the vaults for. so many months, owing to lack of confidence, ought to and likely will come out of its hiding place and seek investment. We ought to now have the good times that have been promised so faithfully all through the campaign by the thousands of republican orators and newspapers if McKinley is elected.
