The weather has been cold and diss
greeable the past week. -
Grandpa Brown is still improving and
the chances for getting up again are in
ais favor.
The populists held their primaries
Saturday. Lewis Miller, Morgan and
Otho Ward were the delegates chosen
to attend the county convention.
Billy Brown and Uncle Alex Craw
ford (the only sound democrats we know
of about here) seem to be well pleased
with the result of the democratic con
, vention.
'. Elder Goodwin is holding forth at the
Baptist church every evening with a
fairly good attendance. The little elder
preaches long and lood, bat whether
he can penetrate the bard shells of skep
tics and infidels of this locality is to be
seen.
Mrs. Veach has traded the Lone Rock
hotel and livery stable to Ira Reed for
his ranch in Haystack, Grant Co. ' W.
C, Brown has also sold his town resi
dence to Ira for 400. Ira says he will
rent the hotel and stable and move bis
family to the Brown residence.
The new theory of om Lone Rock
friend last week in regard to bow the
'whiskey eame to town, was pretty
"slick," to say the least. Of course
no one could blame bim for trying
to shoulder the responsibility of
tovb unbecoming affairs . on someone
else, and it is very evident he is not an

The county road grader will be sent
np from the lower county the first of
next week to be put to work on the
Lone Roek grade and other places need
ing grading. The machine require six
horse and two men to operate it bnt
will do the work of thirty or forty men
where there is no roeks to interfere with
