The republican primaries were held here Saturday, and delegates elected to attend the county convention at Condon next Saturday. About 20 men have been at work on the new county road up the Boone hill this week. When this road is comple ted it will be of valuable service to the traveling public and especially to this "nelghbornood. ' - Mr. Colwell of Eightmile delivered a populist speech here Saturday night. This being the first campaign speech de livered ia our burg in '96, it naturally makes the Pops swell up and imagine the two old parties are just about ready to yield np the ghost. Several parties came in Saturday night to attend- the K. of P. lodge and brought with them a good supply of "rotgut" wbiBkey, which caused consid erable disturbance in the way of hood lums yelling about town half the night like Apache siwaehes. Mrs. Ella Rinebart Thursday evening was elected a delegate to the Rebekab Assembly, which meets at Astoria on May 19th. L B. Carter and Tommy Livingston were elected delegates from the I. 0. O.
