Mrs. M. Anderson of Brownsville, for merly of this place, is making a short visit to her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Phil lips. She expects to return home this week, accompanied by her son Charley, who will attend school at Brownsville. Mrs. Brown, from the Willamette val ley, is visiting at the home of her rela tives here, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Cochran Mr. Cochran was up to Gilliam's capi tal and metropolis Tuesday on land bus iness. He says Condon is the liveliest and best town in the state for its size. Messrs. John Phillips and Fred Doug las have returned from their hunting trip. John says they got a "sprinkle" of game but still the hams they took along came in very handy along about meal times. They made some "remark able shots," but of course never hit any thing that is, any game. In a new and rapidly-improving coun try like this, it is no surprise to hear of new-comers and additions in every local ity. The latest addition is at Catlin's a bouncing son. The whole concern was a j miserahle farce, and the prosecution cer tainly ought to feel ashamed of it. Cowboy" tells us also that the costs were assessed to Coleman, which is a mistake. The Justice fined him $10 and half the costs to the time of plead- j ing guilty. As to the Way the rest of the , costs were settled, I have not learned ; hut if the Justice has as good sense as I think he has, he assessed them to the prosecuting witness. Yours for the truth.
