PLANS ARE MADE FOR
SALE OF CHRISTMAS SEALS
The Oregon Tuberculosis Associa
tion, under the direction of the ex
ecutive secretary. Mrs. Sadie Orr-
Dunbar, is organising its forces
throughout the state for the annual
sale of Christmas Seals, Robert W.
Osborn, who has just conducted a
tuberculosis survey of eastern Ore
gon, has been named seal sale direct-
or and is already in the Held build
ing up an organization for what the
Association hopes will be the biggest
and most successful sale vet held,
The Public Health Associations will
conduct the sale in the eleven coun
ties where they exist; they are Jack
son, Coos, Lane, Washington, Clack
amas, Hood River, Union, Harney,
Curry, Multnomah. In other coun
ties other organizations have already
signified their intention of taking
an active part in the sale of the
Seals.
The budget for use in 1921 is
$35,000 and through the sale of the
Christmas seals at a cent a piece,
this sum will be sought. This means
a sale of five seals per capita if the
work of the Association is to be con
tinued along its established lines. If
a sum less than this is raised, it

will mean the sacrificing of some part
of the vital, educational, demonstra
tion and experimental work.
Four and a. half million seals have
been received by the Oregon Asso
ciation. The 1920 Seal features a
tiny green elf, who carries aloft the
standard of the Anti-Tuberculosis
Association, the red double-barred
cross, while riding atop the pack of
gifts carried by Santa Claus. The
scheme of the stamp is to typify the
"greatest gift of all, good health,"
and the attaching of stamps to all
letters and Chrismas packages dur
ing the month of December will in
sure the carrying of the gift of good
health to hundreds of Oregon victims
of this dread disease, as 95 per cent
of the entire proceeds from the sale
will be kept in this state to combat
the disease.
