young man of Uhitford who appeared
before a Beaverton andience for the
ffflst time, has a very pleasing voice
of bell-like clearness and enunciates
his tones especially well.

cital held at Lincoln high school au
ditorium Saturday evening. Miss
Hocken is a talented young lady;ho

Several of the friends of Mrs. W.
J. Leonard honored her birthday Mon
day evening with a surprise for her.
Supplied with everything needed for
the refreshments, they called at an
eady hour and made the evening pass
only too rapidly with their merry hu

CAME HOME WEDNESDAY
- L. B. Wilson, who has been in Em
manuel Hospital four weeks, was
brought home Wednesday. He is im
proving rapidly and will soon be able
to be out again. Owing to the bad
roads Mr. Wilson was detained at the
i hospital longer, than at first antici
pated and finally through the efforts

teams turning the land on a scale far
greater than anything known in the
