Bateman Editorial HELP THE NEEDY (Virgie Moore) One of the most important things that is needed at the school is lock ers for the books and other articles belonging to the students. Almost . every day there is someone reporting the loss of paper, pencils, or books, and frequently that person is com' pelted to manage his lessons without the lost article for a number of days, In many cases the articles are never found. During many of the study periods a general search is sponsor ' ed in trying to locate some lost arti ; cles. This causes much disturbance for those who need the time for studying and for the teacher in charge. Embarassing moments are caused for the person finding the lost article in his possession as probably he never has anything to do with . having the article there. This situa tion is not only in this school nor has it just arisen, as all schools have had . this inconvenience until they have acquired proper equipment to remedy the condition. Athena high school is the only one in all the vicinity around and the only school of its size that does not have lockers. For small amount of money lockers could be installed wherein the waste to people who are always losing something could be eliminated. The Athena district is no poorer than any of the smaller dist ricts around and therefore can afford the equipment that the other schools have. The people of Athena do not like to be outdone by anyone from other towns in their business and social lives, so why not apply this to the equipment for the school? In com parison with schools of the neighbor ing cities with less population, our school seems rety cheap and Jnsuf. flciently equipped according to the standards of good schools. Why not strive to make all ends meet and get the lockers which all .standard high schools .have? . Faculty Mr. Meyer was in Walla Walla Sat urday.
