Miss Mildred Bateman Editorial Why should high school students read the newspapers? The average student will open the newspapers to the sport page or the comics and as soon as these, have, been read, the paper becomes useless to them. The comics and sports are interesting, but they are not all of the material in the paper that is worth reading. The front page has very interesting ac counts of political newsthat give the readers an idea of what is happen ing in government circles and show them how their government is work ing. Is this not important? Read ing newspapers with thought and care, helps to make good citizens of the students, for in the future these young people will have to pick up the reins of government and to do so they must understand how the government has been run. The editorials are also very interesting, as they are the personal opinions of editors who have spent years in studying the government and who understand the great questions of the day. They give the readers a clearer idea of the news, and they answer many questions in the reader's mind which might never have been answer ed. Read the papers it will help you and will prove very interesting. Faculty Superintendent Lee A.
