"The Oregonian's arraignment of
Statement No. 1 is apparently based
upon the assumption that all meu are
liars," is tne assertion made by the
Bine Mountain Eagle, a Canyon City
paper. Continuing it says that the
Oregonian "assumes, that men can
pursue any conduct, consistent with
integrity, so long as it does not conflict
with expediency or their own advan
tage. It would argue that the admin
istration of the government under the
repnblioau party depends upon the l
members of the legislature repudiating
their pledges. Like a moral pervert,
it reasons for the justification of moral
crime. This Holy Political Boiler is
enlisted to the sanotimonious post of
presiding elder of Roosevelt's Annanias
club, for inasmnob as it admonishes
men to break their word and pledge,
it is logical deduotion that they can
have no regard for their own veracity.
A liar is contemptible but a man who
prooures and induces others to lie is a
moral pervert, and he laoks entirely
that moral nature that differentiates
" man from brute creation. As a matter
of faot, Statement No. 1 is not a politi
cal question at all. Where applied it
is simply a question of a man's integ
rity. If a man is a liar, he will go
lack on his pledge as the Oregonian
advises, and if on the other hand he

The Oregon Agricultural College
wishes to secure definite information
as to poultry keeping on the farm,
the methods followed and results se
cured. With this objeot in view let
ters are being sent to farmers so as to
get their observations on this branoh
of agriculture, and a summary of faots
seoured in this manner will be pub
lished in bulletin form. The prices
of poultry products are suob ns to
warrant greater attention being given
to this branch of farming. Even with
the attention tbat is now given to
poultry-keeping, the industry is an im
portant one. From the best informa
tion available, the poultry and eggs
produced in this state in 1908 reached a
total of about $5,000,000. In spite' of
tbis thousands of dollars are sent out
of this state eveiy year for poultry and
eggs, and if tbis money oould be kept
among our own farmers it would add
muoh to the material prosperity of our
communities. Requests bare been
made tbe College to establish a home
reading course in poultry oulture and
if a sufBoient number signify their de
sire for such a course, it will be given.
