A great change has been made dur ing the preaont year in tbe method of conducting the annual class "fcrap" between tbe freshman and sophomore classes at Whitman. Heretofore tbe class "scrap" has been allowed to take its own course. It bus dragged along all through tbe college year, not only making it disagreeuble for the members of tbe two lower classes but for tbe rest of tbe institution as well. . According to tbe plan which has been submitted to the two classes for consideration, by a momber of tbe fao ulty, the class "scrap" will hereafter come off on an appointed day, which day shall have been well advertised iu advance. The days program shall te entirely under tbe supervision of tbe upper-classmen of tbe colloge who will carry out tbe program, aot as judges of all contests and deolare tbe wiuners. It is planned to baro tbe program oonsist of atbletio events suoh as foot raoing, weight throwing, jumping, stump speaking, and Dually as tbo last event of tbo day will come a mammoth cane rash, in whioh the members of the two olusses will compete. 1'he idea as suggested has beou given over to tbe classes, and eaob class has' appointed a committee of several members to make a definite report as to tbo attitude whioh tho class should take. Both committees agreed to try tbe plan. Each class shall have the privilege of appointing a committee of llvo members. These two committees will thou get together aud arrange the program, but after the program has boon established and submitted to tbe two classes for . approval, it aboil be turned over t3 the uppor classmen who will superintend its fulfillment.
