He brought down with him samples of White Fife wheat from Dave Williams' farm that test 65 pounds to the bushel. He estimates that tbo Held would yield !i5 bushels ptr acre. W. P. Leaoh is one of tbe Westou mountain ranchers who is hauling baled hay to Athena for shipment over the W. & V. JK. Mr. Leach had a largo crop of hay this seasou. It is of exoelleut quality aud is being sold at a good margiu of proilt. Tom Catou has boon a very siek boy tbo past few days, tut is improv ing now. Tom likes blackberries, and ato too many for the good of his stomach. It is safe to say that he will fight eby of this variety of fruit, in large quantities, at least, hereafter. John Wiedert yesterday purchased of Cass Cannon, administrator of the F. G. Naylor estate, lease interests, horses, wagons, etc Tbe amount in volved in the transaction was $1804. It is understood that Miss Minnie Naylor's share ot the estate will total about $3,000. Weston Leader: C. EL Walters, manager of tbe Lobby saloon, decided to plead guilty Friday afternoon to tbe charge of selling liquor on Sun day, preferred against that resort A fine of $25 and costs was imposed by the recorder and the Lobby's license declared forfeited. The saloon con tinues in business, pending a decis ion from the city council as to tbe forfeiture matter. Raduced Rates to Pendleton Fair. A round trip rate of one and one third fare has been announced by tbe O. R. & N.
