Amasa Phillips, the well known implement dealer, has disposed of his business in Weston,andwill soon move to Couer d'Alene City, Idaho. E. L. Barnett came in last evening from Alberta where he had been for some time. Mr. Barnett will leave for bis home in Portland shortly. The M. E. Aid Society will meet Wednesday 19 at 3 p. m. to elect offic ers and attend to other business. All members are requested to be present Rev. John Evans and little daugh ter weut down to Pendleton on the moining train. The little girl's eyes will be treated by a Pendleton special ist "f--Dr. J. C. Ellis, of the Baptist chnroh, will preach in Weston Snuday morn ing, returning in tbe evening and will conduct the eveniug services in this city. During the past two weeks fifteen carloads of hay has been shipped to tbe Sonnd from Atbena by tbis company. Baled timothy hay is worth $13 per ton. , "" Miss Minuie Naylor went over to Walla Walla Wednesday, where she made arrangements to enter Whit mau college. It is Miss Nay lot's in tention to take tbe full college course. Atheua aud vicinity is quite well represented at Whitman tbis year. Mrs. Lillie Miller auuounoes ber grand opening for Tuesday and Wed nesday of next week. She has a large aud varied stock of millinery goods this season, and there is no reason for , Atheua ladies going out of town to select tbeir bats. The openiug at Mrs. Miller's store iu Weston will take place Friday and Satuday. Miss Strabl will go to Weston and trim bats on Wedueadays ot each week. Raduced Rates to Pendleton Fair. A rouud trip rate of one and oue- thiid fare has been autiounoed by the O. JR. & N. Co. for the Peudleton fair, which takes place Sept 24 to 39 in clusive, and for the Walla Walla fair, October 1st to 6tb, inclusive. New Boats Operate. F. A. Freeman, traveling freight aud passenger agent of the Portlaud aud San xrauoisco Steamship line, was iu Atheua Wednesday. The com pauy operates four steamships, having a total carrying oapaclty of 27,000 tous, aud the new service will give a vessel out of Portlaud every three or four days. New Methodist Church.
