BS KES SPBH1G Fruit Inspector Recommends Formula of Kerosene Emulsion. Fruit Inspector Howard Evans, who waa in tbe oity a few days ago, had ills attention called to the scale pest, which for tbe last three or four seasons has been inflicting tbe shade trees and shrubery in Athena. He took with him specimens of tbe scale, and yester day tbe following communication was received at this office: Milton, Aug. 6 To the Edtior "The shade trees I examined in your oity are infested with what is known as the Hemispbereioal scale. It is a widely distributed insect and works upon a considerable range of plants. "1 would advise you use, or spray with either whale oil soap solution or kereosene emulsion. Spraying should be done at once, as the young are just issuing." . "Howard Evans." Keroseue Emulsion. Kerosene - - - 2 gallons. Whale oil or bard soap 1 pound. Water - - - 80 galolns. Boil soan in two cal. water, add kerosene, agitate until mixture assumes the consistency of cream. Dilute with 30 gallons of water and tbe emulsion is ready for use. BOYS LOST AT BIG MEADOWS Sons of Gilbert Konizeski Leave Camp Sunday and Fail to Return, Walla Walla, Aug. 6. Two sons of Gilbert Konizeski are reported to be lost in tbe Blue mountains near the Big Meadows and up to a late hour this afternoon no traoe of the boys had been found. The boys who are about 10 and IB years of age, started out from camp yesterday afternoon with a 22 oailbre rifle. They intended to go for a hunt, expecting to be back at the camp sometime early iu tbe evening. As night oame on, no signs of the boys were found and a large bonfire was built and several parties wbo knew of tbe boys being lost, join ed in the search. A radius of possibly two miles was thoroughly gone over and no traoe of the lost was found. Charles DeMoss, who came from tho camp tbis'morning, states that at 3:30 nothing had been heard from the father, who had left this city to assist in the searoh. ' ' ; ',. A theory is advanoed that one of tbe boys may have been injured and that the brother is watching over him. Big Meadows is several miles from the telephone, line and nothing will be learned until someone comes down from the camp. the" Walla Walla Fair management has decided to put a relay race on the speed program.
