Owing to the great number of trains moving, delayed freight on the main line of the O. B. &N., passenger trains here have been running late the past few days. Testerday the Spokane train did not arrive here until noon. With more settled weather, haying is progressing iu this vioinity. A por tion of the alfalfa that was out was slightly damaged before it was placed in tbe stack. The yield is said to . be a little more than the general average. Tbe little 2-year old son of John MoFail, who resides near Adams, was poisoned Tuesday morning by eating fly paper. Tbe little fellow was in a very serious condition for some time, bnt at last aooouuts all danger was considered over. Tbe action of tbe Pendleton oity oounoil in ordering the arrest of all saloon-keepers who fail to close their places of business during tbe forenoon on Sundays indicates that tbe Sunday dosing law is to be observed on tbe half shell, at least. There will be plenty of brass band mnsio at Pendleton on July 4. Tbe committee has- secured the Milton, Pilot Rook and Pendleton Eagle bands for tbe occasion. J. E.
