Miller, the hustling furniture dealer. , An Indian came to town yesterday and reported having found a saddle on the Umatilla .river below Thorn Hollow. It is thought to be the saddle stolen some time ago from Louis Keen by a couple of Indians, of whom one is now a fugitive from officers. Keen and W. J. King went over today to identify the saddle. East Oregouian : Mrs G. W. Rig by arrived here yesterday from Clares- holm, Alberta, and last night left for Salem accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Cora R. Cook. Rev. G. W. Rigby is .expected here from Alberta about November 1, and the two may live here during the coming winter. Baled timothy hay is being hauled from the mountain ranches to Athena for shipment John Keen delivered something like 60 tons this week and other mountain farmers are also haul ing here. The Preston-Parton Mill ing company is buying the greater portion of the bay this season for ship ment to the Sound. M. M. Wyrick, one of, Umatilla county's leading farmers and stock men, was in town Wednesday. Mr. Wyrick operates the noted Prospect Farm north of Pendleton, and each year harvests a vast amount of grain. His holdings in live stock 'represent about 500 herd of oattle and a large number of horses. SThe Preston-Parton Milling Co. is tunning on the largest flour order that has been received since it oommeuced operations in this city. Two flour orders for the oriental trade received the other day aggregate 15,000 bar rels. The flour will be shipped to San Francisco and Seattle from here, thence by water to the orient Mr. and Mrs. Horace Diokenson ar rived at the home of R. J. Boddy Tuesday evening from Leeds, Eng land. Thirteen days were consumed in the voyage over the Atlantic and across the American continent, and since washnig the dust of travel from his eyes, Mr. Dickenson thinks Athe na is good enough forhim and he will remain here. Mrs. Dickenson is a daughter of Mr. Boddy. Hugh Walker and wife were in town yesterday from their ranch near Helix. Hugh is an inquisitive genius among other accomplishments acquired when a boy, aud successfully wormed out of the Press man the reason we did not go to the Walla Walla fair with Wood. However,' Hugh was never known to divulge a secret, so the colonel can rest assured that no one else will know anything about it at least not before Walker takes a notion to go to" Weston, anyway. Alfred Myers, a youug man who resides in this city with his parents, was takeu to Pendleton Wednesday afternoon by Deputy Sheriff Blakely. Young Myers, who has long been in ill health, has lately developed symptoms of insanity. Lately his actions indi cated that something had to be done, and when at his borne, he became vio lent and threatening, it was thought better to tnrn him over to the author ities. He has been placed in the county hospital where he will receive edical treatment ; It keeps the sporting editor of the ress hopping to keep posted on all the points and pedigrees of the colts and pnps that flock to Athena these days. Two new arrivals must be signed up today, a colt aud a pup, and we've a good notion to give the best of it to the pup, though they are both good. The colt, owned by "Bill" MoBride, is sired by MoAlropa, dam, Min, one of the best brood mares in Eastern Oregon, and the dam of Charles Norris' "Nibbs." So much for the colt Now foe the pup. Ed Kooutz is expecting him any day now. He hails from Pasco and is bred in the purple.
