William Willaby has finished har vesting 140 acres of wheat ou his ranch northeast of town, and reports an average of 15 bushels per acre. . Mrs. McDauiel was iu towu Thurs day in search of a suitable dwelling house in which to move for the win ter. Mrs. MoDaniel is one of Athe na's teachers for the coming year. Pendleton Bus. College is practical. Mrs. Emma Folk is in the city from Oraville, Calif. Mrs. Fulk is a sister of Thos Tet huue of this place, and the two had not met before in 15 yeais. She will visit here some time before returning home, , Mrs. H. B. Alleu left for Portland the last of the week where she will visit her husband who is employed in the Union depot there.' Every available man and team in this vicinity is employed, and many threshing men are iu town to day attemptiug to secure men to com plete their crews. ; Coach Excursion to Fair. On August 39 the O. B. & N. will run a special train from Milton to Pendleton, consolidating at Pendle ton with train No. 1. Train will leave Athena at 7:58; tcikets $6.25 for round trip; tickets will be limited for return to seven days from date of sale and are not good in eihter direc tion in sleeping cars. ; , Late Peaches Scarce.
