Several weeks ago he was take;: down with lagrippe, which owing to his advanced years weakened his heart action and later developed int<- dropsy. He was confined to his bed but ten days when the end came. Many Attend Funeral The funeral was conducted Tues day m -rning. Private services were held at the Fahy home in Prosper a; which Rev. A. Haberly officiated, aft er which the body was placed on the steamer Telegraph and brought to Bandon. After the private ceremony the officers of the Masonic lodge took charge to conduct the burial, a num her of tlie members going to Pros per to accompany tire remains here A long line of autos formed at th* boat landing on the arrival of the body, carrying friends and relative to the K. At the grave Masonic burial services were con ducted by past Worthy Master W E. t’raine. The floral offering was large and beautiful, representing the high es teem in which the deceased was held by his many friends. Many came from other parts of the county fot the funeral. Among those from Co quille were L. H. Hazzard. ,1. W. Len eve. T. M. Dimmick, A. J. Sherwooa Mr Collier and James Watson. Members of local post G. A. He served in a Missouri regi ment for three years during the Wai of the Rebellion and in 1866 went to California After spending a fe> years in California he came to Coos county and it was here that he made his fortune. Fournier of Prosper He was founder of the town of Prosi«r and it was in that part of the Coquille river valley that he es tablished himself as one of the fore most men In the development of the resource» of this section. Having been bequethed by a younger broth er a small merchandise store, he en tercd his flrat business venture at Randolph in 1870 He gave the business his strict attention and with | many struggles, brightened with I brilliant prospects, met with success I Randolph in those days was a lively place as it waa the supply point for practically the entire Coquille valley For about 23 years Mr. Pershbake» was engaged In business at tha' ' place and shared in th« benefits from | the black sand harvests which mad«| Randolph a noted place throughout 1 the West in those days.
