The first installment of "The Troy O' Hearts" told the story of two men One, Trine, hates La wfor an im agined wronff, and when the latter dies, the vengeful man swears one of his twin daughter, Judith, to re venge her father upon Law's son, Allnn. Iloso. the other twin, lias learned to love Allan without know ing thnt ho is her father's enemy Trine, will is a helpless cripple, has always used the "trey of hearts" as his warning signnl to Law. Learn ing that Hose told her lover that she would' send a red roso to him when she needed him, Trine sends n rose himself and draws Allan to the nort' Maine country. Judith traps Allan and, tries to kill him, hut ho manages to escape, and later saves hor life at the end of the first installment. The second installment shows Alat. alone in the woods, lacking food anrt all equipment. Judith has meanwhile gone to her camp and sent ono of her Indian guides to track Alan. Fool ing himself followed, Alan gets morr and mom norvous. Finally he slipr, over tlio side of a cliff and falls into the walor. Judith, fishing with the second Indian guide, roscues the young man and has him taken to hor cahin. Roso, meantime has received n note asking her to visit Alan's lawyer. She finds that Alan is ovorduo and the lawyer is worried. Trine's spj Mnrrophat, tolls him of the noto, and Trine accuses Rose of disloyalty. When he starts to ring for a servant to confine her, she pushes him away, throuirh the desk until she finds papers acknowledging 'Vino's trickery toward Alan, and C. R. MOORE, W. M.
