American Touring Habits Undergo Big Change in Last Decade A* what la predicted to be America's biggest motoring year gets rapidly under way. touring authorities are noting with In terest the vast change th a' ha* taken j>lac* in the touring .—v>- its of the American motorist during the last ten year*. In the last big touring era, in the late ‘twenties, the tourist was a fa m iliar etght along every high way, his car burdened with lug gage and camping equipment, all strapped to every pert of the car. Major automotive development such as Nash's new “sleeper," have changed all this, and to day's tourist is a ‘‘streamlined” traveller. He no longer needs complicated camping equipment and bis luggage tucks away neatly in cagw-Jous trunks. Out o f the way places are also said to be getting much more atten tion because these bed-equipped ca rs make them easily acces sible. The rear compartment* of all Nash sedans may bte converted into six-foot double beds tn less than five minutes. No alteration of the interior of the car is nec essary to use the bed and tt may be left up and used by the tou rist's companion a* the car rolls smothly along the route.
