Plans For Large
Formal Opening of Bank
To Be Saturday, July 15th
Tlie Bank of Illinois Valley will officially open its doors for busi­
ness this Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when A. A. Rogers, State Superintend­
ent of Banks, makes formal presentation of the bank's charter to the
board of directors, and S. A. MacEachron, vice president and manager
of the Portland branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco,
cuts the ribbon across the door.
However, due largely to the energy of President Cliff Sparks and
his limited staff and the hearty _______________________________
cooperation of the contractors, the
bank was "unofficially opened for
business yesterday (W ednesday),
the same day the charter was issued

fulfilled his expectations.
The southern portion o f the
M eredith building was converted
into banking quarters, w ith th e
steel-reinforced concrete vault ad ­
joining a t th e re a r. The vault
door, installed by the Mosier Safe
com pany and contain in g th e very
latest in trip le tim e-lock com bi­
nations, opens directly into the
banking space, y e t due to the
unique arran g em en t n eith er the

floor space from th e banking
room.
