The Roseburg chapter, Roseburg, also invited, could not atten d because of w eather conditions. Those to whom the in itiato ry degree was con ferred w ere R obert Hammer, Mel ville D utcher and Duane Nealy. Soon a fte r th e Redwoods ch apter was form ed they w ere asked to perform the initiatory degree at the district conclave in G rants Pass. An o ffe r was m ade by Dad Jess M artin th a t if the degree was conferred w ithout too many m istakes in the ritual, the chapter would be rew arded w ith a chicken dinner. W hen the dinner was planned the chickens w ere fully feathered, but by the time of the dinner the chickens were fully molted. Mrs. Francis daughter, L oretta visited several days the Ed C. and E dgar Michel and of Hillsboro last week at Abbey homes. Ed C. Abbey spent W ednesday in M edford on business. Mrs. Maude Biglow and Mrs. A nna Nelson and daughter were callers a t the Ed Abbey home Tuesday afternoon.
