VALLEY — Muir Woods national monument maintained its popularity during 1943 as an out standing Redwood Empire scenic attraction according to a survey just complete by the Redwood Em pire association. December visitors to the giant redwoods increased 136 per cent over the same month of last year, while the fiscal year ending De cember 31. 1943 showed more than 57,448 persons visited the monu ment during the year, an increase of 11 per cent over the previous year. Members of the aimed forces viewing the redwoods during De cember increased 231 per cent over last December, and for the fiscal year the increase was 21 per cent. ------------- o-------------- CLASSIFIED ADS WOOD BIDS WANTED Union high school District No. 1 will accept bids for 50 cords of Fir wood not less than 4 inches in diameter nor more than inches, and in length as follows: 6 cords of 16 inch; 22 cords of 2 foot; and 22 cords of 4 foot.
