Mrs. A. J. Tolin left Tuesday for
her home at Los Angeles, after at
tending the funeral of her father,

Terry Gunning drove down from

bile, being accompanied home by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Gunning,
and Leo Coffenberry, who had been

The trip from Fort Klamath down
was made In one day, coming by way
of Crater lake. Suow was falling in
tne laKe country, and the auto
plowed through six inches of the

Havens Get Change of Venue
Change of venue was granted in
the Havens case, and It has been
transferred to the court of Justice
Chas. Crow, at Merlin, from Justice
Holman's court In this city. The de
fendant Is charged with the illegal
sale of liquor.

Forestry SiiH'rvlsr Arrive
Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Macduff and
little daughter, and Mr. Macduff's
mother .arrived Thursday morning
from Albany to make Grants Pass
their home. Mr. Macduff has been
transferred to the Siskiyou National
forest and Is now placed in charge as
supervisor, taking the place of R.
L. Fromme, who went to Olympla.
Mr. Macduff was for some time on
the Siskiyou forest with headquar
ters at Grants Pass, and has many
friends here.

our recent bereavement in the loss

ROOSEVELT INTERRUPTED

ST. PAUL, Sept. 5. Just as Col
onel Roosevelt began speaking at the
fair grounds in Hanillne, near here,
today, a runaway horse plunged Into
the crowd about the stand. Seven
persons were Injured and were tak
en to the hospital. Thirty others
were knocked down and suffered les
ser injuries.
More than 30 men, women and
children were trampled by the mad
dened horse within a few feet of
where Colonel Roosevelt was speak
ing. Roosevelt seemed unmoved by
the tumult and continued his ad
dress in an effort to reassure the
throng. The horse stopped plung
ing when the crowd became so dense
that It could not Droceed further.
and was dragged down by a dozen
hands. None of the injured are ex
pected to die.
