She spent the winter In Kansas City, hav ing come from the interior of the big north last November. She Is one ot the old timers of the northland, as she went over the White Pas9 trail to Dawson In 189S, spending three months on the trail between Skagway and Dawson. Her husband and her self have had much experience In the Interior and have kept up with the events which have developed the gold Interests of Alaska. When the Idltarod country commenced to at tract attention, they went to that section and Mr. Ferguson Is still there, being one of the prominent mining operators In the rich district. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard met years ago and be came friends In the Alaska country. TEXAS FOR WILSON. HOUSTON, Texas, May 28. W'oodrow Wilson men are In com plete control of the democratic state convention which met here at noon today. It was predicted that the New Jersey man will get at least 32 district delegates and eight delegates at large. There are 623 votes In the conven tion, of which Wilson controls con siderably more than half, with Jud- son Harmon second and Champ Clark third. The success of the Wilson ticket is considered a blow politically to Sen ator Bailey, who stumped the stabs against Wilson's candidacy. United States Senator Culberson will lead the Wilson delegates. TULSA, Okla., May 28. The town ot Sktatatook, 15 miles north of here, was wrecked by a tornado this afternoon, 14 persona killed and many Injured, according to reporta received here. The village of Fairfax Is also reported badly damaged by a tornado. BLACKWELL, Okla., May 28. One man la dead and thousands ot dollars' worth of crops and buildings destroyed today as a result of a hall storm which swept the country north of here. WASHINGTON, May 28. Telegraphing from Chicago, Senator Iirlmer today asked Senator Lea of Tennessee, a member of the Lorlmer lnvestl- gating committee and one of the members who signed a minority f report hostile to Lorlmer, that consideration of the movement 4- to expel Lorlmer from the Hen- ate be deferred until his health had Improved. Lea responded that consider- atlon of the matter could not be delayed, but that no action f would be taken until Lorlmer 4 had presented his defense.
