FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1010 PAGE SEVER ROGUE RIVER COIU1KR The Famous Jfi$fa Does Not Strain the Eyes Don't use a small, concentrated lleht over one shoulder. It puts an unequal strain on your eyes. Use a diffused, soft, mellow light that cannot flicker, that equal izes the work of the eyes, such as the Rayo Lamp gives, and avoid eye strain. The Rayo is designed to give the best light, and it does. It has a strong, durable shade-holder that is held firm and true. A new burner gives added strength. Made of solid brass and finished in nickel. Easy to keep polished. The Rayo is low priced, but no other lamp gives a better light at any price. .- Once a Rayo User, Always One. Dtaltrt EvtryuUn. Alfred Metzger, the critical editor of the Musical Review, said of her last week: "Miss Eula Howard, the petite 'Princess of the Piano, as she has been called, Is to give a recital at Century hall on Wednesday evening, November 30. This will be an event of more than ordinary Interest, on account or tne phenomenal success attained by tnls young concert per former. Just now she Is playing m Oregon, and last month she appear ed In Santa Barbara, filling unsollclt ed engagements at rates so satis factory that she was mentioned In some of the papers as the 'Dollar-a Minute Pianist.' "The Musical Review was first to recognize the splendid technical abll lty and high musical intelligence of Miss Howard, and It is pleasant to see that the prophecies then made con cernlng her are being fulfilled. She Is the most petite of professional pianists, and on that account her au dlences are astonished at the tech nlque she displays and at her mature ness of understanding. Wherever she appears she is sure of return en gagement " & Ylthey offer to appear as solo pianist for the Countess de Swlrsky appearances at the Valencia theater and to accompany the Russian dancer on her Pacific coast tour. It will be remember ed, Is a large real estate holder In the valley and who was very much interested In bringing about some amicable arrangement whereby water could be secured for 1911. I I feel complimented Indeed by Mr i Irwin In his reference to having of- ifpreil to let me invest $500 with them, which I declined. This, I b lieve, showed good judgment on my part, and Is corroborated by the poo pie of the entire valley, Inasmuch as an Invitation has been extended to everybody, not only of Grants Tnss but the farming community, In which they have been invited to Invest anywhere from 25 cents to $25,000. So far as I am able to learn, no one has availed themselves of this golden opportunity. And further. I wish to say that the Kogue River Irrigation Power company will co-operate with any one who will jeconstrnct the old dam and put It In such physical condi tion that water may he furnlshrd therefrom for Irrigation purposes for th'1 season of 1911.
