The baseball game played in this city last Sunday between the Med ford and Grants Pass nines was one of the most interesting games wit nessed on the Grants Pass diamond for a number of years. Eleven Inn ings were played, and though It Is generally understood that the game, should have been ours, Medford got In a score of 8 to 6. Our boys did some good work and went down to defeat covered all over with glory. This game was a fine opening for the leaguo and Interest ran high and It Is safe to say that the crowds at the games this season will be large. Next Sunday Central Point will meet the home team on the A. A. The Medford city council has let a contract for 203,000 square yards of pavement to the Clark & Henry Construction company, of Sacra mento, at $1.7t a square yard. The paving Is asphalt and does not stand as high as bltulithic and, of course, It Is a question whether It will give satisfaction. The Medford Mall Tribune In speaking of the action of the council in accepting this pave ment says: 'it is no better, In the opinion of many not near so good as bltulithic, but It Is cheaper." It Is to be hoped that Medford people not have cause to regret the making of this contract. ! Rl ITIiALK. Henry Huck had some friends out throuch Frultdale Wednesday. Work continues on the roads.
