A letter written to a Chicago news paper, stating that the writer had only six months to live and that he was going to blow up the United States senate with nitroglycerin, which was first thought to be a hoax, has caused the federal operatives and Chicago police to make a hurried search throughout the city as the let ter is now thought to have come from a serious man who, driven Irra tional by thoughts of death, might carry out his plot. The letter appar ently was written by a man of some education as the diction indicated that his Is not a crank. It states that the writer has been given only a half year to live and that he is going to blow up "that dishonorable body called the United States senate be fore he dies as its grafting members have plundered the public long enough."
