Hoxie, Dun kard minister, of Williams, will preach at Provolt the third Huuday at 1 o'clock, a. m. Kev. E. Badger preaches Sunday the 24th at II a. in., and 7 p. m. Bible reading at 10 o'clock. All come and hear the teach ing of God. Salmon are now plentiful in the Applegate and tributaries. It has been a long time tince salmon have been this far up the streams. The cause has been on account of the big dam at Wilderville, which was put in for the purpose of irrigating in that vioiuity. A fish ladder was constructed, but tho fish seemed not to be able to pass up it. The dam is now out and there are plenty of flab in the Upper Applegate at present The quartz mine of Bayse Bros, havu started again to do development work. This promrty has been shut down for some time on account of Milter. It is located on the banks of Applegate near Provoland a shaft is 9U5,OUO.OO. i i n I OREGON. SnO.IMHI.IMt. Grants Iass Ore. Their present intention is to run a tunnel along the pay chute, a distanca of 60 feet to open the ledge. When the ledge was discovered by J. Cook, the gold was almost on the surface of the ground, which indicated a pocket and they may be soccesfol lo finding more of these rich pockets. Apples.! llama L. It must be remembered that the Applegate team lost only one game last season. They crossed hats with the A. A. C. of Grants Pass three times, who claim that ttiey have three coming from last year The team expects to play will all the crack teams of Southern Oregou this season.
