Commencement
The commencement exercises of the
Grants Pass Nigh school were given at
the Armory last Thursday evening and
were attended by a large and apprecia­
tive audience. The program was the
best which has been presented to
Grants Pass this season, every num­
ber being excellent and absolutely no
flattery being required to speak of each
one in the highest terms of praise. The
vocal solos of Misses Parker and Cary
were rendered in a very pleasing man­
ner and were higlilv appreciated. Miss
Ethel Palmer gave evidence of a high
degree of musical ability in the manner
in which the rendered her piano solo
and Miss Ada Umphletl surprised and
delighted the audieuce in the deft and
capable manner In which she handled
the violin. The recitation by Miss
Marie Hockett was given in a way
which couipranded the dr-served appre­
ciation of the listeners. The music by
the orchestra and the clarinet solo by
Dr. Van Dyke were also heartily en­
joyed by all music lover« ia the audi­
ence. The address by Judge Benson
was full of good, solid, forcible thought,
and one which well deserves to be re-
Ynembered by every one within sound
of his voice.

a few remarks in presenting the diplo-

which ware eminently practical aud
full of good sound sense.
The class deserve« much credit for
continuing aud completing the course
under such
adverse circumstances.
The school dosed two months earlier
Ilian usual this season, but the class
persisted ia their studies through indi­
vidual effort and graduated creditably.
