The Year's Production of Gold The report of the director of the mint will be alxmt the most inter esting and instructive document to lie issued from the government printing office this year. It shows that the total production of the gold of the United States last year was $34.^69,000, which is an increase of Sj,o6S,noo, over that of the pre vious year, so that instead of ex hausting our mines, as some author ities have stated, we are actually incfeascing our production of pre cious metals. California, the pi oneer, not content with having come to the front as a grower of grain and fruit, still leads all dates 111 her yield of gold, being credited last year with $19,720,000. Colora do furnishes $4.450,000; Montana, $4,425,000; Nevada. $3 <xp>,<x><>; Dakota, $2,700,000; Idaho, $i,Moo, 000, and Arizona $1,110,000. Alas ka produced $446,000 last year, against $500,0110 in 1H85, so that if she keeps adding to her gold product at this rate she will soon have paid tor herself. Georgia.
