Staffing: City works to fill spots
Continued from Page 1
wrote. “I suppose it depends
on how much the tech can
do. I really feel the priori-
ty should be on day-to-day
planning issues that I believe
a para-professional planning
tech can accomplish. Obvi-
ously more complex projects
will need to be dealt with by a
professional planner.”
Warrenton has had trouble
keeping a permanent plan-
ning director.
There have been six plan-
ning directors or interim di-
rectors during the past five
years.
The most recent director,
Scott Hazelton, announced
his resignation after five
months because he couldn’t
find a place to live. Scott Hess,
the director before Hazelton,
stayed with the city just six
months before leaving.
Hazelton had continued
helping Warrenton with
some projects after he re-
turned to the Midwest. But
he was hired last month as
planning director for the city
of Muskogee, Okla., so he has
no more spare time.
Many public meetings are
held virtually. Information
on how to connect is posted
on each entity’s website.
