I really feel the priori- ty should be on day-to-day planning issues that I believe a para-professional planning tech can accomplish. Obvi- ously more complex projects will need to be dealt with by a professional planner.” Warrenton has had trouble keeping a permanent plan- ning director. There have been six plan- ning directors or interim di- rectors during the past five years. The most recent director, Scott Hazelton, announced his resignation after five months because he couldn’t find a place to live. Scott Hess, the director before Hazelton, stayed with the city just six months before leaving. Hazelton had continued helping Warrenton with some projects after he re- turned to the Midwest. But he was hired last month as planning director for the city of Muskogee, Okla., so he has no more spare time. Many public meetings are held virtually.
