cash from a desk.

third-degree theft after she
allegedly attempted to leave the
store without paying for $23 in
flashlights and batteries.

43, of Warrenton was cited for
third-degree criminal mischief.

owski, 36, of Seaside was cited
for second-degree theft after he
allegedly attempted to leave the
store without paying for a heated
work shirt and lithium battery
pack valued at $218.
• Disturbance, 10:50 a.m. Jan. 8,
Dollar Tree. A 60-year-old man
from Astoria was escorted off the
property.
• Shoplifting, 10:30 p.m. Jan.
5, Walmart. Kenneth R. Wirth,
28, of Wheeler was cited for
third-degree theft after he
allegedly attempted to leave the
store without paying for a $50
digital capacitor.
• Shoplifting, 5:30 p.m. Jan. 6,
Fred Meyer. Lilly I. Pettit, 30,
no known address, was cited for
second-degree theft after she
allegedly attempted to leave the
store without paying for $170 in
food and other merchandise.
• Shoplifting, 6:30 p.m. Jan. 6,
Walmart. Frances Lynne Wil-
banks, 32, of Seaview, Wash.,
was cited for second-degree theft
after she allegedly attempted to
leave the store without paying
for $106 in merchandise.
• Man bothering customers, 1:42
p.m. Jan. 8, Walmart. The man
who was causing a disturbance
at Dollar Tree earlier in the day
was trespassed from the prop-
erty.

• Careless driving, 9:08 p.m. Dec.
30, South Main Avenue at North
Main Avenue. Joe M. Doran,
56, of Astoria was arrested on
suspicion of driving under the
influence of intoxicants and
driving while suspended. He was
booked at Clatsop County Jail,
where his blood-alcohol content
was recorded at 0.12 percent.
• Hit-and-run, 4:14 p.m. Jan. 1,
Home Depot parking lot.
• Speeding, 7:15 p.m. Jan. 2,
South Main Avenue at Alternate
Highway 101. Driver cited for
going 52 in a 35 mph zone.
• Car into water, 10:08 p.m.
Jan. 2, Hammond Marina boat
launch. Kayla D. Short, 26,
of Portland was arrested on
suspicion of driving under the
influence of intoxicants, care-
less driving and driving while
suspended. She was booked
at Clatsop County Jail, where
her blood-alcohol content was
recorded at 0.19 percent. Nei-
ther Short nor her passenger, a
28-year-old Portland man, were
injured.
• Hit-and-run, 1:45 p.m. Jan. 6,
Costco parking lot.
• Vehicle vs. deer, 5:50 p.m. Jan.
6, Pacific Drive and Desdemona
Street.
• Traffic stop, 12:12 p.m. Jan. 7,
South Main Avenue at Southeast
Fifth Street. Driver cited for
driving while suspended.
• Traffic stop, 4:05 p.m. Jan.
7, Ridge Road at Fort Stevens
entrance. Driver cited for driving
while suspended and having no
insurance.
Teens arrested
on gun charges
Three teenage boys were
arrested early Monday after
firing a handgun near the
turnaround in Seaside, police
reported.
They are ages 14, 15, and
16 and none lives in Clatsop
County.
Calls of a firearm being dis-
charged on the beach came
into the dispatch center at
1:09 a.m. Monday.
Officers found two boys on
the beach with a pistol, Sea-
side police said. A third boy
was found nearby in a parked
vehicle and he, too, had a pis-
tol.
The boys were arrested
for unlawful possession of
a weapon, unlawful use of a
firearm, recklessly endanger-
ing another person, carrying
a concealed weapon, and dis-
orderly conduct.
The Clatsop County Juve-
nile Department booked the
teens at a juvenile detention
facility outside the county.
