About $2,300 in tools, sunglasses and fishing gear was taken. • Shoplifting, 7:02 p.m. May 23, Walmart. Michael J. Lyly, 34, of Hillsboro and Lacey M. Hart- man, 27, of Oregon City were cited for third-degree theft after they allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $49 in clothes and food. Lyly also was cited for criminal mischief for damaging the packaging for a watch. • Shoplifting, 5:45 p.m. May 24, Walmart. James Wayne Connell, 56, no known address, was cited for third-degree theft and crim- inal mischief after he allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $52 in bicycle tubes, gloves and a belt. • Theft, 6 p.m. May 28, Fred Meyer. Christopher I. Hutson, 39, of Long Beach was cited for second-degree theft after he allegedly took a nine-person tent valued at $200, and walked out the grocery exit. When store security attempted to stop him, he showed them a receipt from another store, then began run- ning, got into a pickup and drove away. Police stopped the pickup on the Astoria-Meglar Bridge. He also was cited for failure to carry and present a license. • Vehicle theft, 4:31 p.m. May 28, Home Depot. • Shoplifting, 8:05 p.m. May 29, Walmart. Allis M.C. Harris, 28, of Rainier was cited for third-de- gree theft and criminal mischief after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for a dress, curling wand, dash cam and jewelry valued at $66. Southwest 18th Street at South- west Juniper Avenue. Driver cited for having no insurance. • Fraud, 8:17 a.m. May 28, a woman reported a fraudulent rental listing on CraigsList for a house on Russell Drive in Ham- mond. 29, 800 block Eighth Avenue, Hammond. A woman asked an intoxicated man to leave the home she shared with her 8-year- McCleary old daughter. He returned a short time later and created a disturbance. Jacob Cale McCleary, 34, of Joseph was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, theft, harassment and tampering with evidence. Devin Michael Fields, 27, of Astoria was cited for criminal failure to carry and present a license, driving while suspended and having no insurance. • Impaired driver, 9:40 p.m. May 27, Highway 101 near Cannon Beach. Gary Dean Leer, 54, of Cannon Beach was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. He was booked at Seaside Jail, where his blood-alcohol level was recorded at 0.17 percent. • Hit-and-run, 11:59 a.m. May 28, Fred Meyer parking lot. A woman reported $1,500 in dam- age to her vehicle while she was shopping. • Single-vehicle collision, no inju- ries, 12:19 p.m. May 28, High- way 103 at Pope-Meeker Lane. A 57-year-old Seaside man driving a sport-utility vehicle panicked when he rounded a sharp curve and was met by an oncoming fire truck with lights and sirens. He overcorrected, slid on gravel and struck a utility pole. • Speeding, 8:32 p.m. May 30, location no given. Cody Lee Remington, 30, city not given, was found to be in violation of a restraining order and arrest- ed on suspicion of contempt of court. He was booked at Clatsop County Jail. • Traffic stop, 11:30 p.m. May 30, Ensign Lane near Costco. Driver cited for driving while suspend- ed. • Speeding, 3:25 p.m. May 31, Ridge Road near Parkview Apartments. Driver cited for going 68 in a 45 mph zone.
