And her retirement leaves the little building in limbo. “The chamber doesn’t really have a good use for it,” said David Reid, executive direc- tor of the Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce. “But whatever’s decided, we’ll be part of that solution.” The city of Warrenton owns the building; the center’s owner owns the property. If the center is abandoned, the city could be required to re- move the building. “If it’s not operated as a vis- itor center, it does revert back to the property management company,” City Manager Lin- da Engbretson said. “Our next step is trying to see if there’s any organization who’d want to continue operating it as a visitor center.” The center will remain open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. week- days through September. Cruise ships Eleven cruise ships are sched- uled to dock at the Port of Astoria this fall.
