Tickets for ‘Shanghaied’ on sale now
The 34th season of “Shang-
haied in Astoria” kicks off in
July and Astor Street Opry
Company has begun selling
tickets.
Shanghaied is an award-win-
ning musical melodrama/
comedy that’s family friendly.
The season runs from July
12 through Sept. 1. Show
times are 7 p.m. Thursday, 22, Aug. 5 and Aug. 19).

Soup affair boosts
The Harbor’s work
The 15th annual Soup Bowl
celebration to support The
Harbor, a domestic violence
shelter and assistance orga-
nization, will be 5:30 to 8:30
p.m. Saturday, June 2, at The
Loft in the Red Building, 20
Basin St., Astoria.
Tickets are $40, with pro-
ceeds benefitting The Harbor.
Participants will get a sneak
peek into the shelter through
a virtual tour. There will be
food, beer and wine, live mu-
sic and a silent auction.

Warrenton High School’s
Drama Department pres-
ents the 1960s musical
comedy “Bye Bye Birdie!”
at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1 and
2, in the high school gym,
1700 S. Main Ave.
The play is based on a
book by Michael Stewart
and focuses on a popular
rock star who gets drafted
into the Army. It includes
controlling parents, crazy
teenagers, crashing rela-
tionships and singing and
dancing.
Admission is $8 and doors
open at 6:30 p.m.

music, art Sunday
Warrenton and Seaside high
school students will present
music and art during a spe-
cial service at 10 a.m. Sunday,
June 3, at Pioneer Presbyte-
rian Church, 33324 Patriot
Way, next to Camp Rilea.
Hayley Rollins, Seaside art-
ist and high school student,
will present a
talk on “The
Creativity of
God and His
Children”
during
the
service. Rol-
lins was re-
sponsible for
Liljenwall
the 2015 declaration of April
14 as Honorary Artists of Or-
egon Day by the state legis-
lature, and initiated the an-
nual Art Day at Seaside High
School.
Music will be provided by
pianist Kaisa Liljenwall, a
student at Warrenton High
School.
Graduates to get
honors at St. Mary
A graduation Mass and cel-
ebration for high school stu-
dents who attend St. Mary,
Star of the Sea, and St. Fran-
cis de Sales Mission in Ham-
mond will be at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday, June 3, at St. Mary,
1491 Grand Ave.
Seniors are asked to wear
their caps and gowns.
Members of the congrega-
tions are asked to help re-
stock shelves at St. Vincent
de Paul Food Bank, on 15th
Street between Grand and Ir-
ving avenues.
More than 100 families
were served by the society in
April and Foods for Kids pro-
vided 250 weekend food bags
to Astoria school students in
kindergarten through eighth
grades.
Members interested in a pil-
grimage to the Oberammer-
gau Passion Play in Germany
are asked to attend a meeting
at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 6,
in St. Mary’s auditorium.
