Garage sale raises
funds for Relay
Wind quintet to
take the stage
The Solstice Wind Quintet
will perform at 7 p.m. Fri-
day, May 25, at the Liberty
Theatre, 1203 Commercial
St., Astoria.
The quintet was founded in
1978 and is the resident fac-
ulty wind ensemble at Wash-
ington State University. The
group performs throughout
the Northwest.
Astoria Moose Trekkers, a
Moose Lodge team that will
participate in Relay for Life,
will have an indoor garage
sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, May 26, and 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27.
The sale is at the lodge,
420 17th St., Astoria. The
group is accepting donations
of clean nonbroken items at
the lodge today until 5 p.m.
All proceeds will benefit
the American Cancer Soci-
ety’s Relay for Life.
Scandinavian fest entertainment tickets on sale
Astoria Scandinavian Mid-
summer Festival released its
lineup of entertainment for
the 2018 festival, set for June
15-17 at the Clatsop County
Fairgrounds.
Back by popular demand
are two Canadian bands:
ARRIVAL, an ABBA tribute
band, and Dreams, a Fleet-
wood Mac tribute band.
ABBA was the most com-
mercially successful pop
group in the world from 1974
to 1982. Dreams will take the
stage as a seven-piece band.
Both groups perform in full
costume and have traveled
the world with their shows.
The tribute bands perfor-
mance is at 7 p.m. Saturday,
June 16.
The night includes a Scan-
dinavian joke-telling contest
and a public dance with Scan-
dinavian country music.
Tickets are available on-

com. Reserved seats are $35
and $25. General admission
tickets are $15. Prices will
increase by $2 at the door.
Parking is $2.

Other entertainers during
the festival: Kristoffer Kleive-
land and Maria Skjeldrum
Toppe of Norway, who play
button accordion and har-

roots in Swedish and Finnish
folk music.
The festival is in its 51st year
and has been declared an Or-
egon Heritage Tradition.

Game Bird Stamp art compe-
titions.
Collector’s stamps, art prints
and other promotional mate-
rials are produced from first-
place artwork.
Winning artists in each con-
test receive $2,000. Entries
