February 2, 2018 T he C olumbia P ress Cultural Trust wants to help agencies win grants Cities, counties and other Oregon organizations that serve the public have a chance to get a piece of more than $5 million in grant funding. The Oregon Cultural Trust, along with groups that give grants for arts, historic and humanities work, is holding meetings in 14 areas of the state, allowing potential re- cipients to discuss projects and programming. “There are more than 1,450 cultural nonprofits serving Oregonians,” said Aili Sch- reiner, manager of the Or- egon Cultural Trust. “We want to make sure they know about the grant funds and significant programming re- sources that are here to sup- port them.” Clatsop County’s meeting is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Clatsop Community College’s South County Campus, 1455 N. Roosevelt. Transit district seeks members for budget panel The Sunset Empire Trans- portation District Board of Commissioners seeks volun- teers willing to serve on the district’s budget committee. The committee is com- prised of the district’s seven board members plus seven community members ap- pointed by the board. Appointees must be regis- tered voters and residents of Clatsop County. Budget meetings are held up to three times a year in the spring and members serve three-year terms. All cultural nonprofit or- ganizations are welcome. Among the grant opportu- nities discussed are the Cul- tural Trust’s 2018 Cultural Development Grants. Grant guidelines will be posted on the trust’s website by Mon- day, Feb. 5, with an April 13 application deadline. Last year, more than $2.94 million was awarded.
