Richard Brenne, a moun- tain climber, world traveler, tour guide and award-win- ning screenwriter, will lead the talk. His works have appeared on the Discovery Channel and HBO and he also pro- duces and moderates panel discussions and town meet- ings about human impacts on the earth. His talk at Fort Clatsop is part of the monthly “In Their Footsteps” lecture se- ries sponsored by the Lewis Kayaking is a good way to explore what’s unseen from the road. & Clark National Park Asso- ciation. Breakfast and Santa await kids Peace is focus of holiday concert Breakfast with Santa will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at War- renton Community Center, 170 S.W. Third St. Admission is $5 for those 12 and older, $3 for ages 6 to 11, and $1 for those 5 and younger. Breakfast includes all-you- can-eat pancakes, plus sau- sage, eggs and beverages. Pancakes will be donated and prepared by Pig ‘N Pan- cake and coffee is donated by Starbucks. There will be a gift-basket raffle. All proceeds help support the community center. The North Coast Sym- phonic Band presents “Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All,” an afternoon of holi- day music at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Liberty The- ater, 1203 Commercial St., Astoria. Musical Director Dave Becker will lead the sym- phonic band in holiday fa- vorites, traditional music and new arrangements fea- turing vocal solos by Andy and Rachel Becker. High tea at Flavel a nod to Victorian holiday tradition Tea and plum pudding will be served during a special holiday event at the Flavel House Museum, 714 Ex- change St., Astoria. Tea is served from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 16 through the 23 and then after Christmas, Dec. 26 through 30. The historic home is deco- rated for the holidays and it’s a very gentile way to enjoy a traditional Victorian holiday treat.
