Fundraiser supports Crossroads
Carnegie Art Center

AKER CITY — The deadline
is fast approaching to buy
tickets for the third annual Okto-
berfest fundraiser that supports
Crossroads Carnegie Art Center
— an event that won the 2020
“Fundraiser of the Year” award
from the Oregon Festivals and
Events Association.
The 2021 version, set for Sat-
urday, Oct. 16, is again a drive-
thru event from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
at the Baker Event Center, 2600
East St., Baker City.
Dinner tickets are $40 per
person and must be purchased
by 5 p.m. Oct. 9 online at https://
one.bidpal.net/21oktoberfest/
welcome. In addition, a growler
of beer from Barley Brown’s ($17)
or a bottle of wine from Copper
Belt ($20-$28, depending on
variety) can be pre-purchased to
go with dinner.

The virtual auction is now
live at https://one.bidpal.
net/21oktoberfest/welcome. Bid-
ding closes Sunday, Oct. 17, at
9 p.m. Ginger Savage, Crossroads
director, said the auction features
more than 100 items, including
fi ve travel packages, gift certifi -
cates to local businesses, various
gift baskets and lots of artwork.
“Crossroads has been
blessed,” Savage said. “There
are two Pendleton blankets,
snowshoes and an Anthony
Lakes pass, a homemade
delivered soup dinner, tickets
to go see ‘West Side Story’ at
the Eltrym Theater and dinner,
farm fresh eggs, quilts — the
list goes on and on. We cannot
thank our community enough
for their support.”

the Baker High School cross-
country and track programs
and Ward Ranches, this “Field to
Fork to Fun” event has par-
ticipants running or walking
through Baker City to grab a
potato from Ward Ranches and
deliver it to the fi nish line for do-
nation to the Northeast Oregon
Compassion Center.
All proceeds from the entry
fees will support the track and
cross-country programs at BHS.
Entry is $10 for grades six and
younger, and $20 for grades
seven and older. All ages are wel-
come. The fi rst 75 participants to
register receive a T-shirt, but you
can sign up until race time. Regis-
ter at the ticket website above.
A new event this year is the
Oktoberfest potato fun run and
walk that starts at 7 a.m. Oct. 16
