For more information, visit redcrossblood.org/ antibodytesting. Nov. 21, 1936 — Oct. 26, 2020 Clifford E. Franklin Sr. of Prairie City, age 83, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2020. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A celebration of Clifford’s life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Clifford was born Nov. 21, 1936, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to the late Gerald and Orletha (Manteer) Franklin. He grad- uated from Three Rivers High School in 1954. Clifford married Myrna Eisinger on Oct. 26, 1957, together they had four chil- dren. He worked for AC Delco as an exper- imental model maker for 32 years before retiring in 1988. After retirement, Clifford moved to Prairie City, Oregon, for 32 years. He loved staying active with sports, especially golfing, hockey, softball, bowling and motorcycle cross country enduro. Clifford enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, watching football, golf and Nascar. He was an avid blood donor and was always around to offer a helping hand to family and friends. Surviving are: son, Clifford Franklin, Jr; daughters, Kim (Lee) Stoeckl, Kelly (Dan) Neph and Shelly Ahlson; loving partner and significant other of 25 years, Lind Boyd, and her children; 12 grand- children; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Marcia) Franklin; loving furry companion, Coco; many other loving family members and dear friends. Janney April 19, 1933 – Nov. 2, 2020 Deloris Marie Janney, 87, passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2020, in John Day, Oregon, after a long battle with COPD. A grave- side service will take place Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Dayville Cemetery in Dayville, Ore- gon. She will be laid to rest next to her hus- band Gerald “Jerry” Janney and her brother Joseph E. Picchi. Deloris was born in Wadsworth, Nevada, on April 19, 1933, to Angelo and Violet Picchi. She met her first husband, Jack Nielsen, in Paso Robles, California. They were married on Oct. 21, 1952. They lived in Reno, Nevada, for many years. Jack died in 1994. Deloris met her second husband, Gerald “Jerry” Janney, in Oregon. They married on Aug. 26, 1995. Jerry died in 2013. In addition to her husbands, Deloris was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy and Joseph Picchi; her stepbrothers Frank and Albert Bristow; and her sister Elaine Stroud. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Gary Phipps; her stepson Russel Nielsen; and one granddaughter Gina Phipps. She also is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions in Deloris’ and her dog Missy’s honor can be made to the Ed Bush Fund at the John Day River Veterinary Center through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Temporary leave available for people asked to quarantine Blue Mountain Eagle For anyone who has been contacted by a contact tracer and is told to quar- antine, the state is offering COVID-19 Temporary Paid Leave Program. People who do not have COVID- 19-related leave or have exhausted their company’s coronavirus-related leave are eligible. Those who qualify can receive $120 per day for up to 10 days, according to Leah Andrews, the director of public information and communications with the Department of Consumer and Busi- ness Services “This is one of those things where it is better safe than sorry,” Andrews said. “At the same time everybody wants to make sure that they’re able to put food on the table and pay their rent.” Andrews said the application is avail- able online at oregon.gov/dcbs/covid-pl and takes less than 10 minutes to com- plete. Quilts of Valor dinner canceled this year She said Legislature allocated $30 million to the program from the Coro- navirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Secu- rity Act, and roughly $2.5 million in pay- ments have gone out Andrews said this program provides relief to people faced with the difficult question of, “How do I pay my bills and still do the socially responsible thing.” The money, she said, does not have to be paid back.
