Vicki Cunningham was installed as a director for the chamber Oct. 2 during its annual installation din- ner at the Elks Lodge in John Day. Longtime member Ruth Harris swore in Vicki Cun- ningham as a director and Sherrie Rininger as the president-elect. Kim Rand- leas was scheduled to be installed as a director but was absent and will be installed at the next cham- ber meeting. Jerry Franklin remains president of the chamber, and Rininger will take the helm when Franklin vacates the position. The board also presented achievement awards. Angie Jones, from Grant County Transportation (People Mover), got the first plaque of the night for her dedica- tion and commitment to the people of Grant County and their transportation needs. Hope 4 Paws received a civic award for their suc- cess in rescuing stray and abandoned dogs and cats through researching hom- ing efforts or reuniting pets with their rightful owners. Franklin presented the last award of the night to Fair Manager Mindy Winegar. “We decided this year that we would start giv- ing an annual achievement award, presented from the Grant County Chamber of Commerce,” Franklin said. Mindy Winegar received the annual achievement award for her hard work and dedication for the Grant County Fair. A5 The Blue Moun- tain Ranger District has announced the 45-day objection filing period for the draft record of deci- sion for the Ragged Proj- ect began Sept. 26, one day following the publica- tion of the legal notice in the Blue Mountain Eagle. Individuals and enti- ties who have previously submitted specific written comments regarding the proposed project during either of the scoping peri- ods or the 45-day com- ment period on the draft environmental impact statement may submit an objection, according to a press release. The draft record of decision includes upland restoration activities (com- mercial and non-commer- cial thinning), aspen resto- ration, bat gate installation, prescribed burning, road maintenance for haul, tem- porary road construction, road and recreation system changes, designating wild- life connectivity corridors and forest plan amend- ments. The objection must contain the minimum required con- tent requirements speci- fied in 36 CFR 218.8(d) and incorporation of docu- ments by reference is per- mitted only as provided in 36 CFR 218.8(b).
