Highway 26, near mile post 163 just east of John Day, was closed for 2.5 hours as the Oregon State Police Explosives Unit responded and rendered the device Tanner Prock safe, according to an OSP press release. The driver, Jer- emiah Alsop, 37, of Prairie City was arrested for driving under the influence Jeremiah of intoxicants and Alsop two felony war- rants. Alsop will additionally be charged with unlawful possession of a destructive device and posses- sion of methamphetamine. The registered owner of the Toy- ota, Alycia Howes, 22, was arrested on a felony warrant. Howes will additionally be charged with pos- session of methamphetamine. The third passenger, Tanner Prock, 22, of Prairie City was arrested by the John Day Police Department as a result of an earlier investigation. The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit rendered safe an explosive device found during a traffic stop in John Day July 2. A motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash July 4 on Highway 207 in Wheeler County. At about 11:40 a.m., Oregon State Police and emergency per- sonnel responded to a crash near milepost 19, according to an OSP press release. The preliminary investigation revealed Yancey Fall, 51, of Prineville was travel- ing northbound in a 2015 Ford F350 pull- ing a trailer when Frank Lord Jr., 52, of Tigard lost control of his 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle in a corner and slid into the pickup and trailer, according to the release. Lord sustained fatal injuries and was pro- nounced deceased. Oregon State Police was assisted by emer- gency medical services from Fossil and Spray, the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
