A celebration of life will be held later in Burns. He will be interred at the Hilltop Memorial Cem- etery in Nyssa. In lieu of fl owers, the family suggests dona- tions to local veterans organizations. Abby Lusco Grade 10 Parents: Andy and Angie Lusco Fallen Bolman Grade 11 Parents: Dovie Wood and Tony Bolman Nov. 25, 1949 — Dec. 25, 2018 Colin Edward MacArthur, 69, of Dayville was born on Nov. 25, 1949, and passed away Dec. 25, surrounded by his family. He graduated from Dayville High School in 1969. This past summer he attended his 50th school reunion. Colin was a veteran of the Vietnam War. In 1975, he married Mary Pocock Mascall; they later divorced. Colin loved his home, Dayville, and the people who live here. He enjoyed shooting the breeze with his many friends and his family. He was a jokester and a prankster and had a wonderful sense of humor, especially when he got one over on you. His machine gun laugh will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed hunting and fi shing but would share his spoils or catch with the less fortunate. An avid gardener, he also shared many a tomato and cuck. Especially, he will be remembered for his beautiful and incomparable cabbages, bar none. He was self-employed his entire life as a heavy equip- ment owner and operator. He left his mark on our sur- rounding landscapes by logging, clearing rights of way, excavating roads, dams, ditches, etc. For many years, he dug graves with his backhoe for Dayville cemetery. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith MacAr- thur; and two grandmothers, Linda MacArthur and Ethel Johnson. Left behind are his mother, Bette MacArthur of John Day; two sisters, Cheryl (Mick) Jenison of Spray, Oregon, and Gwen (Rick) Valade of Dayville; two step- children, John Mascall of Dayville and Susan Mascall of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; as well as many nieces, nephews and grandkids. A memorial service will be held and posted at a later date. Terry and Sharon (Hinshaw) Smith Cody Combs Grade 12 Parents: John and Andrea Combs CORRECTION Information submitted to the Eagle for a Jan. 9 obituary indicated Carl Lino Jr. and wife, Sondra, had three children. The couple had two children. The Eagle regrets the error. Friends and family of Terry and Sharon (Hinshaw) Smith are invited to a memorial ser- vice honoring their lives and memory. The service will be held from 2-4 p.m Jan. 26 at Twin Rivers Church, 1660 Mohawk Blvd., Springfi eld, Oregon. Jeffrey Blakeston Knowles, age 67, passed away Dec. 23 surrounded by his family and closest friends at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. Born Oct. 24, 1951, Jeff was the first born to Dennis B. and Virginia A (Thomas) Knowles. He would later be joined by a sister, Leanne, and a brother, Brian (Butch). Grandparents to the three were Burdett and Opal Knowles of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Jack and Alice Thomas of Terrebonne, Oregon. Jeff’s childhood years were spent between the family’s property in Terrebonne and the ranch at Van, Oregon. Jeff graduated from Redmond High School in 1969 and later earned an associate’s degree from Walla Walla Community College in 1973. Instead of waiting for the draft, Jeff enlisted in the Army; he was stationed in Vietnam in 1970-71. During this time, Jeff was exposed to Agent Orange, which was later determined to be the cause of his long history of medical issues that he battled for most of 48 years. Jeff finished his service a decorated soldier. He was honored and always proud of his service to his country. After a brief two- month engagement, Jeff married Sally Gregory on October 28, 1978; the couple recently celebrated their 40 th wedding anniversary. Jeff and Sally were blessed with two sons, Trevor and Drew; and three grandsons, Charley, Jack and Cody. Jeff’s days revolved around his family and the ranch. Working side by side with Sally and the boys, the family built their cattle herd, spending as much time as possible at the family’s ranch in Van, Oregon; this was where Jeff felt the most at home. Jeff’s love for the ranching only grew with time as he passed his knowledge along to his sons and grandsons. Hunting, fishing and telling stories with his family and friends were among Jeff’s favorite things to do. Jeff lived a full life right up to the very end with the love and support of his wife and best friend Sally, his sons and their wives, and his three grandsons. Jeff will be missed dearly but remains forever in the hearts of so many near and far. Jeff was preceded in death by his mother Virginia (Thomas) Knowles. He is survived by his father, Dennis, of Lewiston, Idaho; wife, Sally, of Mt. Vernon, Oregon; sons Trevor (Jena) Knowles of Prairie City, Oregon and Drew (Jessica) Knowles of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons, Charley, Jack and Cody; sister Leanne (Pat) Fuller of Clarkston, Washington; and brother Butch (Mary) Knowles of Heppner, Oregon. Paid for by the family of Jeff Knowles John Lewis Borgerson formerly of Long Creek, Oregon and Pendleton, Oregon passed away at Park Manor in Walla Walla, Washington on Dec. 29. John was born on July 4, 1928 to Norvald and Vera Borgerson of Greenville Michigan; he was the oldest of four children. John graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1947 and attended Eastern Michigan University. He married his wife Dorothy Houck-Borgerson in June of 1948 and celebrated 61 years of marriage along with 5 children prior to her passing. John started his career with Argus Cameras and in 1961 moved the family to Orange County, California where he took a job managing the Mattel Toy Company facilities in that area. In 1972 he fulfilled his lifetime dream of becoming a rancher and purchased the Harlan Hansen Ranch in Long Creek, Oregon and named their new home J Dot Ranch. He continued on with his career in management as Vice President of Iowa Beef Processors retiring to ranching in 1978. John was a very active member in Grant County holding positions on the Long Creek School Board, Grant County Planning Commission, Grant Soil and Water District and Oregon State Board of Agriculture. John loved his family and spending time with the grandchildren horseback riding, 4 wheeling, playing board games and picnics to Ritter Hot Springs. He enjoyed a good golf game and continued to play until age 88. John and Dorothy retired from ranching in 2003 and relocated to Pendleton to enjoy traveling, friends and a simpler life style. In 2016 John made his final move to Wheatland Village Retirement Center in Walla Walla, Washington. John is survived by his daughters Jannae Nichols of Newport Beach, CA, Judi Seaver of San Diego, CA, Amy Kreger of Long Creek; sons in-law Robert Knowles of Virginia Beach, VA and Craig Jackson of Long Creek; seven wonderful grandchildren, Sadie, Allyson, Brian, Amanda, Charlotte, Erin and Dustin; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy Borgerson; daughter Lynda Jean Knowles; and son Matthew John Borgerson. There will be an intimate family celebration at the Fox Church and will conclude at the Fox Cemetery.
