Grant Union/Prairie City softball Continued from Page A9 The Grant Union/Prai- rie City Prospector softball team ended a successful sea- son in the quarterfinal round with a 5-0 loss to the North Douglas Warriors. The Prospectors entered the OSAA State Champion- ships as the No. 1-seeded team and with an 11-1 record for the league. in the consolation round. Grant Union then lost in a battle for fourth place to Union, the Prospectors fin- ishing sixth in state. “It’s awesome to have such a young team, and it’s our first time at the tourna- ment,” said Grant Union head coach Ali Abrego. “We made the top eight, and that’s what we were aiming to do.” 9. Dayville/Monument boys basketball Grant Union Prospectors started to rally in set three against Portland Christian, but fell to the Royals 3-0 at the OSAA 2A Volleyball Championship in the quar- terfinal round at Ridgeview High School in Redmond. The Prospectors went on to beat the Bonanza Antlers The Dayville/Monu- ment Tigers made the game against Adrian at the District 8 1A Tournament an excit- ing match, but fell 57-49 to the Antelopes. The team bounced back the following day at the con- solation match. The Tigers defeated Huntington 46-45 to close their season. 7. Grant Union/Prairie City baseball The Grant Union/Prai- rie City Prospector base- ball team ended their sea- son at the OSAA 2A/1A State Championship quar- terfinal round with a 12-3 loss to the Kennedy Tro- jans in Mt. Angel. Kenne- dy’s 8 runs in the second inning gave a massive lead that decided the game. The Prospectors may have lost, but they had a 14-0 record in the league for the season. “The kids, coaches, par- ents and fans all knew that these guys had an incredi- ble season,” said head coach Doug Sharp.
