Every effort is made to report the court dispo- sition of arrest cases. Grant County Circuit Court One case filed against Fidel S. Barajas, 43, Kimberly, was dismissed and an arrest warrant was recalled Nov. 25 in the best interests of justice following the district attorney’s motion. He was charged with taking a deer in a closed season and hunting deer with the aid of an artificial light, both misde- meanors allegedly committed on Dec. 6, 2008. One case filed against Eric Arzate, 26, Visalia, California, was dismissed and an arrest warrant was recalled Nov. 25 in the best interests of justice following the district attorney’s motion. He was charged with felony possession of marijuana and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor allegedly committed on Oct. 3, 2010. Two cases filed against James D. Cassidy were dis- missed and an arrest warrant was recalled Nov. 25 in the best interests of justice following the district attorney’s motion. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxi- cants and having an open con- tainer of alcohol in his vehicle, allegedly committed on Nov. 13, 2008, and failure to appear for the DUII charge, allegedly committed on March 18, 2010. One case filed against Linn D. Stewart, 66, Burns, was dis- missed and an arrest warrant was recalled Nov. 26 in the best interests of justice following the district attorney’s motion. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxi- cants, allegedly committed on Feb. 28. Devan J. Haynes, 25, Pend- leton, pleaded guilty Nov. 29 to driving under the influence of intoxicants committed on March 29. He was sentenced to 48 hours jail, 24 months pro- bation and $1,355 in fines and fees. His driver’s license was suspended for one year, and he was ordered to install an igni- tion interlock device on any vehicle he drives. Charges of driving with a suspended to re- voked driver’s license and giv- ing false information to a police officer were dismissed. Corwin, 59, Long Creek, pleaded guilty Oct. 3 to second-degree dis- orderly conduct. He was sen- tenced to 12 months probation, 20 hours community service and $400 in fines and fees. • Gregg E. Devore, 29, Prai- rie City, pleaded no contest Nov. 28 to second-degree dis- orderly conduct. He was sen- tenced to 20 days jail. The state agreed that facts in the case will be used in a pending circuit court case. • Curtis J. Clark, 27, Pend- leton, pleaded guilty Oct. 10 to driving without an operator’s license. He was sentenced to $265 in fines and fees. Charges of third-degree theft and driv- ing with a suspended or re- voked license were dismissed. Oregon State Police Nov. 25: Investigated a noninjury crash on Highway 7 near Austin Junction. The west- bound vehicle was traveling faster than conditions would allow and skidded off the high- way into trees and a barbed wire fence. Nov. 26: Responded to a crash that occurred on Nov. 25 on Highway 395 south of the Logan Valley Road junc- tion. The northbound vehicle swerved to avoid hitting a deer, slid off the highway and rolled onto its top. The 19-year-old female driver had climbed out and walked to a nearby resi- dence. Nov. 28: Responded to a crash on Highway 26 west of John Day. A 17-year-old male accelerated to overtake anoth- er vehicle, slid off the high- way and rolled over through a barbed wire fence. Both occu- pants were not injured. Nov. 29: Investigated a non- injury crash on Highway 402 near Long Creek. The east- bound vehicle slid on black ice and stopped on the westbound shoulder. Dec. 1: Responded to a crash on Highway 395 south of Canyon Creek. A vehicle slid on ice and landed upside down in Canyon Creek, leaving a 36-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter from Hines suspended in their safety har- nesses and unable to get free. A passerby from Elko, Nevada, who witnessed the crash broke out the rear window and hand- ed them a pocketknife so they could cut themselves free. The girl was transported to the hos- pital with minor injuries. John Day, Storm Carpenter, 59, John Day, was cited for driving while using a cellphone. • Oregon State Police Nov. 26: Advised of a dis- abled vehicle creating a hazard on Highway 26 near Laycock Creek Road. Nov. 27: Received a report of a noninjury crash at High- way 26 and Bragga Way Road in John Day. Nov. 27: Advised of a non- injury crash involving a deer on Highway 26 near Dog Creek Road. Nov. 29: Responded to a noninjury crash on Highway 402 near Monument. Nov. 29: Received a 911 call about a suspicious person on Highway 395 south of the Harney County line. Nov. 29: Responded to Mt. Vernon for a noninjury crash involving a deer. Nov. 30: Advised of a non- injury crash on Highway 395 near Long Creek. Dec. 2: Received a livestock complaint for Highway 395 north of Long Creek. Nov. 27: Paged to a restau- rant on Main Street in John Day for a woman possibly having a stroke. Nov. 28: Responded with state police to Highway 26 west of John Day for a single-vehi- cle crash. Nov. 30: Responded to a hardware store on West Main Street for a person who had fallen. Nov. 30: Dispatched with Monument fire and ambulance to Wilson Street in Monument for a 61-year-old woman hav- ing seizures. Nov. 30: Responded with John Day police and state po- lice to a noninjury crash on Highway 26 west of John Day. Nov. 30: Dispatched to a mobile home park on West Main Street in John Day for a 58-year-old woman with nau- sea and vomiting. Dec. 1: Responded to a crash scene on Highway 395 south of Canyon Creek.
