Mathéo Buchart scored 5
goals in two recent games for
Long Creek/Ukiah’s soccer
team.
With just 2 seconds left
on the clock Oct. 18, Bucha-
rt scored the only goal in his
team’s 4-1 loss to Nyssa in
Long Creek.
He also had 4 goals in the
team’s road win over Umatil-
la with teammate Ben Combs
contributing 2 goals and Mar-
cel Kozhogvlov adding 1 goal
for the 7-1 win.
Long Creek/Ukiah head
coach Amos Studtmann said
his team started off with poor
communication and a lack of
rotation on defense in the first
half against Nyssa but came
out with a stronger second
half.
“I can see improvements
in many of my players from
the beginning of the season,”
The Eagle/Angel Carpenter
Long Creek/Ukiah’s Marcel Kozhogvlov works the ball
away from Nyssa’s Roberto Amezquita (7) Oct. 18. In
back is Long Creek/Ukiah’s Josh Konig.
The Eagle/Angel Carpenter
Nyssa’s Carlos Castro (20) moves the ball with Long Creek/Ukiah’s Heather Fan
following closely.
Studtmann said. “Effort and
improvement is what we’re
looking for — that’s what we
play for.”
In the game in Umatilla,
Studtmann said his team ran
hard and put in some work for
the win.
“Umatilla is a JV team, but
our kids still feel good about
getting a win,” he said, adding
Thomas Kreamier and Henry
Grannis performed well.
Long Creek/Ukiah lost
their final game to Riverside
18-0 in Boardman.
Studtmann said their oppo-
nents made “amazing passes,”
with Four Rivers,” Studtmann
said.
He said he enjoyed coach-
ing his team and seeing major
growth in some of the ath-
letes.
“It was encouraging to see
how they build relationships
with each other and worked
hard in practice,” he said.
and his team didn’t have the
speed or overall experience to
stop them.
A match with Four Riv-
ers for Saturday was can-
celed due to referees need-
ing to cover a league playoff
match.
