A2 Family Blue Mountain Eagle Wednesday, May 23, 2018 O BITUARIES E AGLE ON V ACATION — J EROME Otho Glen Laurance April 4, 1929 - May 15, 2018 Otho Glen Laurance, 89, of Prai- rie City passed away May 15. He was born April 4, 1929, in Prairie City to Clyde Alton and Em- ily Ferne (Savage) Laurance. He at- tended and graduated from Prairie City High School. After high school, he served four years in the United States Navy. On March 10, 1951, Laurance married Sammie Lou Robertson in Knoxville, Tennessee. He worked as an upholsterer for Laur- ance Upholstery for 25 years and retired in 1991. He enjoyed gunsmithing, shooting guns, reloading and reading. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. Laurance is survived by his son Gary (Jeanette) Laura- nce of Isla Mejures, Mexico; son Rick (Christel) Laurance of Sweden; daughter Joni (Bob) Warren of John Day; son Steve (Brenda) Laurance of Chino Valley, Arizona; six grandchil- dren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sammie Lou Lau- rance. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. James Sr. was on a cruise on the USS Theodore Roosevelt from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, known as an Eagle Cruise. Eagle Cruises are a Navy thank you to parents, siblings and children for their support to sailors and airman in Naval service. Margaret M Collatt Weaver 64, passed away Feb. 19 in Sa- lem. She was born Aug. 17, 1953, in John Day to Buddie and Oradell Weaver. She considered Mt. Vernon her hometown. She is survived by children Lester (Mary) Wall and Joann Wall; mother and stepfather Oradell and Claude Talley; brother Jim (Mary) Weaver; sisters Elaine Foster and Janet (Rick) Hylton; and lifelong friend Bruce Carlson. He had a third-place finish in shot put. An article last week stated he received the title for shot put.
