fourth and this year, we hope to
make a run at third place as a

Grant Union travels to
Union for the 2A-6 Wapiti
League Districts, starting at
11 a.m. Friday, May 11. They
compete against Elgin, Enter-
prise, Imbler and Union.
Prairie City, Long Creek
and Monument/Dayville will
be at the 1A-4 District Cham-
pionship Meet in Baker City at
10 a.m. Friday, competing with
10 other teams.

The walkers, runners and
cyclists could choose to par-
ticipate in memory of a loved
one.
Ross said they have an ac-
count for donations reserved
for hospice patients who don’t
have insurance or whose in-
surance doesn’t cover all the
expenses, as well as for train-
ing.
“I am always so grateful
that people come out for the
event, not only showing sup-
port for the community but
for the hospice staff,” Ross
said. “It’s at times a difficult
job for the staff, so it’s great to
see the community come out
for a fun day and support the
team.”

pants lacing up for the Strut,
Stride, Straddle & Stroll Sat-
urday morning.
Some walked with family
and friends, including fur-
ry friends, supporting Blue
Mountain Hospital Home
Health and Hospice.
Organizer Sylvia Ross,
who is director of Home
Health and Hospice, said they
went with a Cinco de Mayo
theme because the event fell
on May 5.
Eleven-year-old
Grant
Hall of John Day, the young-
est half marathon runner, said
this was his third time running
one.
Participants could choose
between running or bicycling
13 miles from Prairie City, 6
miles from Pine Creek Road,
4 miles from the old weigh
station near Dog Creek Road
or 1.5 miles from the Seventh
Street Complex.
The youngest participant
was 2-month-old Ellie Jacobs,
